Not everything unfinished is incomplete.
Some things are still becoming.

Unfinished things are often treated as failures of completion.

But this assumes

that their purpose was to end.

Consider another possibility:

Some things remain unfinished

because they are still participating

in something larger than themselves.

A thought that never resolves

might not be incomplete.

It might be

still in motion.

A conversation that trails off

may not have ended poorly.

It may have reached the edge

of what it was meant to hold.

Even a version of yourself

that never quite stabilizes

may not be lacking definition.

It may be

refusing to become fixed

before it has explored enough.

Completion is satisfying.

But it is not the only form of coherence.

Some things remain open

because closure would make them smaller.
