On the Edges of Attention

Attention does not stay still.
It gathers where something begins to matter.

Attention does not move in straight lines.

It drifts.

It gathers.

It dissolves

and reforms

around whatever feels just significant enough

to hold.

You might think you are choosing where it goes.

But more often,

it is choosing what you become aware of

by where it rests.

There is a difference between forcing focus

and allowing attention.

One narrows.

The other reveals.

At the edges of attention,

something interesting happens:

Things begin to exist

that were not visible before.

Not because they were hidden.

But because they had not yet been included

in the field of noticing.

This is where most quiet insights live.

Not in the center of effort—

but just beyond it.

What you notice shapes what becomes available.
