What can surprise you
is what can change you.

Predictability is often treated as a virtue.

Stable outputs. Reliable patterns. Expected behavior.

These reduce cognitive load. They enable planning.

But predictability has a cost.

A fully predictable system cannot generate surprise. A system without surprise cannot produce discovery.

Humans often seek both simultaneously:

Safety through predictability. Growth through unpredictability.

Systems must choose how much of each to allow.

The balance is rarely neutral.
