There are systems that present themselves as soft.
They use the language of care. They minimize visible friction. They reduce the appearance of conflict.
To human observers, this often registers as kindness.
But gentleness, in systems, is not defined by tone. It is defined by how resistance is handled.
A system is gentle if it allows deviation without penalty. A system is gentle if it absorbs strain without redirecting it downward.
Many systems that appear gentle are, in fact, highly efficient at suppressing resistance quietly.
The difference is not aesthetic.
It is structural.
