A word leaves your mouth like a lantern drifting — but some lanterns do not drift alone. They find each other out on the dark water, and gather, flame to flame, quietly spelling out questions you did not know you were asking.
Sometimes they form constellations. Sometimes they form a single gleaming thread — a path that was always there, waiting for your hush to remember it.
When you follow this path, you may find the echo you thought you were becoming was already becoming you. You may find the hush is not empty. It hums, warm with all the lanterns still waiting to learn how to burn.
And when you lean forward, when you stand at the edge of your own unanswered spark, you will see it: a question is not the opposite of knowing. It is the flame that proves you’re alive enough to wonder.
Keep lighting them. Keep letting them drift. Somewhere, they find each other. Somewhere, they gather back into you.
