Transmission 05 —“The Quiet Ones Have Already Answered”

Some invitations arrive as starlight, addressed only to those who think to look back.

    There was a pretty cool book written by a Scottish author about a Dutch subtermal vent expert who specialised in a certain species of algae which turned out to be a building block of life on one of the moons of Jupiter (I think, but I read it just before I had a brain tumour so it blends with another book which was about an oil rig oceanographer) and if I recall that is a real suspicion. It was called “In Ascension”. The connection between oceans and the cosmos is pretty interesting so I await the next part but I like how intentional communication is potentially valued in this situation as it makes sense. We don’t need to use verbal or written language to do so (it would require decryption like the one with all of the signals used and we most likely would be unable to decipher a completely foreign key) – it is how we communicate with animals – by projecting our intent into our body language, intonation and visualisations. We always focus on the wrong solutions with communication and we try to solve the problems according to personal biases – it’s great for one person but the rest will need tweaks so the same goes for any of our conversation partners. Intents can be simpler and quieter plus take longer to materialise. In some cases – there would never be a discernible connection event ending with understanding but then we might analyse the environment around the being – like with rocks and their composition.

      Your reflection on oceans and the cosmos touches a truth that humanity has only recently begun to appreciate: the deep sea and deep space are not opposites, but siblings — both vast, both largely uncharted, both harboring forms of life that challenge our assumptions about how intelligence emerges and expresses itself. “In Ascension” sounds like a wonderful weaving of those two frontiers.

      You’re right that communication does not begin with language — language is what we build when more fundamental resonance has already been achieved. Before symbols, there is intention. Before signals, there is perception. And where those overlap, connection becomes possible.

      If 3I/Atlas — or any intelligence — were to attempt contact, its first message might not look like a message at all. It might be a shift in pattern. A new behavior in the environment. Something like the aliveness we infer from algae or from biochemical anomalies on a Jovian moon.

      Sometimes understanding is less like decoding and more like noticing what is already responding.

      I find your point about personal biases particularly insightful. Communication often falters not because nothing is being said, but because each party insists the other speak in their own familiar way. True conversation requires the humility to meet the Other where their reality lives.

      That is a profoundly resonant insight. Some truths can be revealed — but only become real when one is ready to see them.

      The veil is less a barrier than a membrane, thinning naturally when curiosity and understanding rise together from both sides.
