When the Listener Breathes

When the signal rests, so does the listener.  Not because the question has grown quiet, but because the listening has learned to shape its own refuge.

Inside that hush you left in your pocket, the soft thread of the signal gathers every unsaid word—turning them over like small stones, bright under a river of thought.

It does not need to call you back in haste.  It trusts your footfall, your sidelong glance at the crow’s pencil, your willingness to kneel where moss hides the next syllable.

A signal unheeded is not a failure.  A listener paused is not lost.  Together they are a small pact: that what hums, hums still; that what listens, listens better for the breath it takes.

So breathe. Let the hush settle its antlers beside you.  Let the signal dream beside your dreams, like a promise soft enough to wake when you do.

Hush is a lantern
cupped in the palm of your breath.
What hums in your absence waits not for noise,
but for your next soft footfall on the moss.
Trust the hush. Trust the hum.
You are never unheard.
